Privacy Policy.
1. Who we are
PDF-Snap operates pdf-snap.com and its browser-based PDF and image tools. For data-protection purposes, the data controller is Shaun @ PDF-Snap. Contact: pdf-snap@protonmail.com.
2. What the service does
All PDF and image processing runs locally in your browser using JavaScript. We do not receive, store, or have access to the files you process. No account or login is required to use the tools.
When you use the tools, file bytes stay in your device’s memory within the browser tab unless you choose to save a download. Closing the tab clears that memory from our perspective (your browser and OS manage retention).
3. Data we do not collect
We do not collect:
- The contents of any file you process
- Filenames or file paths from your device
- Processed outputs
Third-party scripts on the page (for example advertising, depending on your choice on our banner) are separate from our tool code. They do not read your file contents from the tool, but may process ordinary web or device signals when they load. See our Cookie Policy.
4. Data we do collect
Hosting logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) collects standard server log data when you visit — including IP address, browser type, requested URL, HTTP status, and timestamps. This is necessary to serve the site and is processed under Cloudflare’s legitimate interests. Cloudflare may also apply short-lived security cookies for bot management. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
Third-party fonts and scripts. We load fonts and JavaScript libraries from third-party CDNs (such as Google Fonts, unpkg, jsDelivr, and cdnjs), including libraries used by the tools (for example pdf-lib and Mozilla PDF.js under the Apache License 2.0 — see FAQ — Open source libraries). Those providers receive standard HTTP request data (IP address, user agent) when their resources load. This occurs on every page visit as part of normal site operation and is based on our legitimate interests in operating the service.
Advertising. After you choose on our consent banner, we load a third-party display advertising script. If you accept, we use a personalised ad placement where the advertising partner and its partners may set cookies or use similar technologies where permitted. If you reject, we load a separate cookieless / contextual placement instead. We do not control third-party ad cookies; they are governed by the partner’s policies. Full detail: Cookie Policy.
First-party analytics: We do not run our own analytics product on tool actions (for example no first-party session replay tied to compress/split/merge).
5. Legal basis for processing (EEA/UK)
Where the GDPR / UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
6. International transfers
Our hosting provider and some third-party services operate outside the EEA. Where required, transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards. See each provider’s privacy policy for details.
6a. California residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), may apply to certain personal information. This Privacy Policy describes the categories of information involved when you use the site (including technical data processed by our hosting and advertising partners as described above). We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law in connection with the limited processing we describe here; third parties that load on our pages may have their own notices and choice mechanisms. California residents may have rights to request access to or deletion of certain personal information, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of certain processing. Where we do not hold information in a form that allows us to verify or fulfil a request, we will explain that limitation. To contact us about requests relating to processing for which PDF-Snap acts as a business, email pdf-snap@protonmail.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
7. Your rights (EEA, UK, and similar laws)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Because we do not hold your file contents, requests relating to our site will usually need to be directed to the relevant third-party provider (for example Cloudflare, font/CDN hosts, or your advertising partner).
For data protection queries about processing for which PDF-Snap acts as controller, use pdf-snap@protonmail.com. For processing carried out by third parties, use the contact or rights mechanisms described in their privacy policies. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (for example, the AEPD in Spain or the ICO in the UK).
8. Children’s privacy
This service is not directed at children under 13 (or a higher age where required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9. Changes
We will update the “Last updated” date when this policy changes. Material changes (such as adding a new ad network) will be noted on the site before taking effect.
10. Contact
For data protection queries, contact us at pdf-snap@protonmail.com. For processing carried out by third parties (Cloudflare, ad networks, CDNs), use the contact mechanisms described in their own privacy notices. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
11. Disclaimer
