Cookie Policy.
This page describes how PDF-Snap uses cookies and similar technologies on pdf-snap.com. It works alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies does PDF-Snap use?
We do not set first-party HTTP cookies to operate the PDF or image tools.
We use one first-party localStorage key — pdfsnap_ad_consent — to store your advertising choice (true after Accept Cookies, false after Reject). This is not an HTTP cookie and does not expire automatically; it clears when you clear your browser’s site data for pdf-snap.com. Older values (personalised, non_personalised, accepted, rejected) are migrated once to true / false. Unlike HTTP cookies, this value is not sent to any server with your network requests and cannot be read by third-party scripts running on the page.
Regional consent: Users in the European Union, UK, and Brazil are shown a cookie consent banner before advertising scripts are activated. Users in other regions receive personalised advertising immediately, in line with the laws of their country.
California residents (CCPA): If you are in the United States you may opt out of personalised advertising at any time using the "Do Not Sell My Data" link in the footer of every page. Clicking it switches ad serving to contextual-only immediately.
After you choose on our banner, we load a third-party display advertising script from our advertising partner. If you accept, we use a personalised ad placement; the partner and any subprocessors may set their own cookies or use similar technologies (device identifiers, pixels) for ad delivery, frequency capping, fraud prevention, and — where permitted — interest-based advertising. We do not control these cookies. They are governed by the partner’s policies (you may also see disclosures on or near the ads).
If you click Reject, we load a separate cookieless / contextual placement instead, designed to limit personalised tracking cookies compared with the personalised path.
2. Cookies set by hosting and third-party services
Independently of your ad consent choice, the following may process data when the page loads:
| Provider | Purpose | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosting, DDoS protection, bot management | Legitimate interests |
| Google Fonts | Font delivery | Legitimate interests |
| Script CDNs (unpkg, jsDelivr, cdnjs) | JavaScript library delivery | Legitimate interests |
| Advertising partner (reject path) | Cookieless / contextual ad delivery | Legitimate interests (funding the free service) |
These flows are necessary for normal site operation and are not controlled by our advertising consent banner in the same way as the display-ad script.
3. Consent — what we use and why
We use a first-party consent banner. It is not IAB TCF-certified. Your choice is stored in pdfsnap_ad_consent in your browser’s localStorage. Because this is localStorage (not a cookie), it:
- Clears when you clear site data for pdf-snap.com
- Does not sync across browsers or devices
- Does not expire automatically
4. Your rights and opt-outs
You can withdraw consent at any time using the button in section 6 below.
Industry opt-out tools (interest-based advertising):
- EU/EEA: Your Online Choices
- US: DAA Opt-Out
- Global: NAI Opt-Out
You can also use your browser settings to block or delete cookies, or use an ad blocker. The PDF and image tools continue to work if advertising scripts are blocked.
For data protection queries: pdf-snap@protonmail.com. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (for example the AEPD in Spain or the ICO in the UK).
5. Changes
We will update the “Last updated” date if our cookie use changes. Material changes will be noted on the site.
6. Cookie preferences
Use the button below to reset your choice. The page will reload and the banner will reappear.
This reloads the page after clearing the saved choice.
